The Bureau for the Aged was created by the W. A. State Government in order to meet effectively the challenges of demographic trends in an ageing Australia. Through consultation with service consumers and providers the Bureau will be a focus for aged concerns. An essential link between aged people and Government will be established. The Main functions of the bureau are centred in the areas of policy development and advice on policy priorities; co‐ordination of Government activities directed to the aged and liaison with non‐government organisations; research and planning to make effective use of available resources and to identify priority areas of need, and encouragement of education programs in the community.
