The term ageism refers to discrimination against the aged. One aspect of ageism appears to be social expectations that the aged do not have and should not have sexual relationships. How important do the aged themselves regard sexual relationships to be, and do they accept these social attitudes? This paper considers this question and reports findings from a Brisbane study of a group of healthy active mobile elderly citizens.
