A splenic factor was prepared from a saline extract of calf spleen by čentrifugation at high speed, heat precipitation and aceton precipitation. The factor had an inhibitory effect on the DNA synthesis of lymph node cells and thymus cells in vitro. The possibility that the factor is a T cell chalone is discussed.
