Fifty‐six Micrococcus strains representing all the 8 biochemical types were tested on double diffusion in agar gel against Micrococcus immune sera and reference antigen/antibody systems. Eighty per cent of the strains were found to have polysaccharide AβC. The polysaccharide Aβ precipitin line is produced by wall ribitol teichoic acid in which β‐linked N‐acetylglucosamine is the specific determinant. The structure determining the polysaccharide C activity is unknown.
