(CBA x DBA/2)FL mice from five transplantation lines of plasma cell neoplasms were examined for cardial lesions Small foci of degenerating myocardial fibres were present in many transplanted mice less than four months old. The affected muscle fibres exhibited a diastace‐resistent periodic acid Schiff positivity and did not stain for amyloid or fibrin. No evidence of an inflammatory reaction was present. The myocardial lesions could not be correlated to the survival time or the presence or absence in the leukaemic mice of paraproteinaemia, amyloidosis or lung thrombi. No pericardial lesions occurred in these mice. Myocardial lesions of a different morphology were found in several untreated DBA/2 mice, and nearly exclusively in old animals. Some old untreated DBA/2 mice showed pericardial calcifications either as the sole lesion or together with myocardial lesions. All five old DBA/2 mice thymectomized at 3 days of age exhibited myocardial lesions whereas none of them showed pericardial calcification.
