Changes in the lymph nodes, spleen and thymus are described following a single intravenous dose of PHA‐P in mice. On the basis of histological studies it is suggested that the primary picture of regular proliferation may be due to stimulation of the lymphoid cells in situ , while the later grossly irregular proliferation found in the lymph nodes in particular may be due to secondary stimulation of this altered population by PHA stimulated cells from the thymus. In view of these findings caution in the clinical use of this drug is urged.
