Despite the Convention on the Rights of the Child, some adolescents are still detained in adult prisons in Europe. Little is known about their health status. This cross‐sectional study of 67 teenagers detained in an adult prison in Switzerland shows that morbidity in this group is high. Conclusion: These results highlight the need for developmentally appropriate health services for teenagers in adult prisons. The long‐term implications of detaining adolescents in adult detention facilities also need to be discussed.
