Infant regulatory problems at 3 mo of age and later hyperkinetic problems in childhood were evaluated in a prospective longitudinal study. Conclusion : There was a less favourable long‐term behavioural outcome in children with multiple regulatory problems. However, family adversity clearly outweighed infant regulatory problems as a predictor of hyperkinetic symptoms.
