Cardiac troponin T and cardiac troponin I—the biochemical markers of myocardial injury—are characterized by high specificity and sensitivity in comparison with other markers used in the past. Conclusion : Troponins have been studied in a wide range of clinical settings. Some of them are unique to paediatric care, but many questions, mainly concerning laboratory limitations and data interpretation in paediatrics, are still open to debate.
