We report the unusual and very rare association of achalasia with deficient tear production, which is probably an autosomal recessive inherited syndrome. The diagnosis of achalasia was confirmed by radiologic, endoscopic and endosonographic studies and the absent tear production by Schirmer's test. Achalasia, deficient tear production, endosonography
