. A newborn infant with ante‐natally ultrasonically diagnosed small bowel obstruction was found to have two isolated jejunal atresias at laparotomy. Assay of immuno‐reactive trypsin enabled an early diagnosis of cystic fibrosis to be made, later confirmed by an elevated sweat sodium.
