. Growth study methodology is described with emphasis upon cross‐sectional versus longitudinal methods. The uses and advantages of velocity growth data are presented. Catch‐up growth is defined and measurement ratios‐indices discussed. The methodology necessary for the measurement of key indicators of human growth is described. These are body weight, recumbent length, head circumference.
