, Systolic and diastolic blood pressure were measured in 1642 Swedish school children aged 12, 14, or 16 years. They represented 71% of all children in these age groups in the municipality where the investigation was done. The blood pressure was measured with an automatic, oscillometric blood pressure monitor. The systolic blood pressure increased significantly with age in both sexes. Boys aged 14 or 16 years had significantly higher systolic blood pressure than girls of the same ages.
