. We describe a 14‐year‐old boy who suffered from chronic granulomatous disease (CGD). Long‐term prophylactic treatment with trimethoprimsulfamethoxasole (TMP‐SMX) has succeeded to maintain the patient practically infection‐free. The clinical behavior, the laboratory findings and the genetic pattern of CGD in this patient suggest a variant of the disease, consisting of a combination of elements which pertain to the “childhood” form, with others which are more characteristic of the “adulthood” form of the syndrome.
