. A 10‐year‐old epileptic mongoloid child who developed an overt diabetes during chronic treatment with phenytoin in adequate doses is presented. Since mongoloid patients have a genetic predisposition for diabetes and the diabetogenic effect of phenytoin being known, this kind of drug should be used with caution in mongoloid patients.
