Summary The thrombotest Owren to assess the coagulation premature and full term has been used status of 158 babies on the first day of life. The results were found to be lorn and levels of 10 ob and less were found mainly in ill infants, and the majority of infants who died were in this group. The thrombotest reveals infants who are at risk of haemorrhage, and also provides an easy method of monitoring treatment of coagulation deficiencies. It deserves to be used with other conventional and biochemical tests in the assessment and treatment of ill newborn infants.
