Summary A pair of monozygotic male twins with phenylketonuria, born in 1943, and reared together, were studied clinically and with EEG. Their oligophrenia, epilepsy and EEG findings show appreciable differences. One twin has relatively high intellectual capacity (IQ 55) and 3 per second spike and wave epilepsy, whereas the other is a low grade imbecile (IQ 26) with epilepsy of a focal type. The only known lesional factor is their metabolic disturbance.
