Summary Polypoid formations originating from the dorsal edge or dorsal margin of the hymen or just cranial to it occur in about 6% of all newborn girls. They consist of embryonal rests of the uro‐rectal septum. These polyps are always benign and disappear spontaneously within a few weeks.
