Summary In a series of 123 encephalographic examinations performed on infants and children during the years 1951–56, serious reactions were found only in the youngest age group, four out of six being less than one year old. The probable causes of these reactions are discussed. From the experience gained in this series the clinical indications and a scheme of techniques for encephalographic examination in different cases and age groups are outlined.
