Summary A brief review of the literature on renal thrombosis in the newborn, from which it is found that only 10 cases successfully treated by surgery have previously been published, is followed by a case report. The cause of the thrombosis could not be demonstrated. The clinical signs were not very marked, so that the case might well have escaped recognition.
