Summary A controlled trial of penicillin, sulphadiazine, streptomycin, chloramphenicol and aureomycin was carried out in 173 infants with infantile diarrhoea, the majority of whom were malnourished. None of these drugs had a clear‐cut effect on the course of the illness as judged by the duration of the diarrhoea.
