Summary The heredo‐familial, degenerative diseases of the central nervous system are briefly reviewed, and an account is given of two cases of acute, diffuse, infantile sclerosis of the brain in a brother and sister. In both cases a typical picture developed from the fifth‐sixth month of life, and death occurred after the disease had lasted about ten months. The family history yielded no data concerning diseases of the nervous system or the like, and the disease is taken to be the outcome of a recessive hereditary process.
