Summary The blood stream in the small conjunctival vessels was observed in twelve cases of erythroblastosis foetalis with the aid of a stereoscopic‐microscope immediately after birth. Intravascular red cell aggregation was observed in all the immunized infants. No aggregation was observed in healthy newborn infants. The correlation between the blood values in the child and the degree of aggregation was such that, when the aggregation was pronounced the red cell and hemoglobin values were low. After a blood exchange, or in connection with a spontaneous improvement in the state of health, the red cell aggregation decreased proportionally as the blood values improved. The diagnostic and clinical significance of these observations is discussed.
