Summary In this first part of their investigations on iron metabolism in infants, the authors have estimated the iron in breast milk, cow's milk and different diets most frequently employed in pediatric clinics. They conclude that infants fed artificially often ingest 3 to 4 times more iron than infants of the same age, breast fed; and that anemia in the former is not due to the lack of iron in their diet.
