SUMMARY A case of rickets resistant to ordinary vitamin D therapy is described. A familiar factor has, in all likelihood, played a part in the pathogenesis. Treatment with citric acid‐sodium citrate was of no benefit which agrees with the experience of B utler . Massive daily doses of vitamin D, given by mouth in periods of ten to fourteen days had a marked effect on the blood phosphorus and plasma phosphatase concentrations and brought about a conspiciuous healing of the skeletal changes as seen in the X‐ray (see Figs 2 and 3). No toxic reactions to these large doses of vitamin D were seen.
