P edersen , S. and S imonsen , V. 1987. Tissue specific and developmental expression of isozymea in harley ( Hordeum vulgare L.) .‐Hereditas 106: 59–66. Lund, Sweden. ISSN 0018–0661. Received March 5, 1986 14 enzyme systems, ACO, ACP, ALD, EST, GOT, GPI, ICD, IPO, MDH, NDH, PGD, PGM, SDH, and TPI, were assayed in different tissues and growth stages, covering the entire barley life cycle, by means of starch gel electrophoresis. Tissue specific expressions were found in most enzyme systems studied, ranging from isozyme bands absent to isozyme bands present in only one or two tissues. Previously unde‐scribed zymograms were detected in IPO and NDH and developmental changes appeared in the expression of EST, IPO, MDH, NDH and SDH. A couple of the enzymes studied may constitute good systems for studies on gene regulation.
