The litter size from one A. I. boar of Finnish Landrace breed, used extensively for breeding work, was considerably reduced. The boar was clinically normal with normal sexual functions; the semen picture was normal. Chromosomes were analysed from blood cultures by GTG, QFQ and RBA banding techniques and CBG and Ag‐I staining methods. The rcp(4q+;13q‐) translocation was found in all the lymphocyte metaphases studied. Meiotic chromosomes were studied in one male offspring which had inherited the translocation from his father. All the offspring studied had normal or balanced heterozygous karyotypes.
