C‐banding patterns of five inbred lines originating from cv.‘Stâlrâg’ with different intensity of neocentric activity were examined. Differences between the lines were observed in the length of telomeric C‐bands as well as in the band located adjacent to the nuceleolus‐organizing region. However, the band on the short arm of 4R, which has earlier been shown to be the primary site of activity in the line with the highest intensity, differed in size in only one line. The deviating line is exceptional showing the activity in up to six chromosomes instead of the usual one. No other possible correlations between the size of bands and the intensity of neocentric activity could be established.
