Formulas are given for paternity indices and for EM values for simple genetic systems when the mother is not available for test in a disputed paternity case. An example is given of how the formulas can be extended to any kind of complicated system. The formulas can also be used for disputed maternity tests. Formulas for cases where the putative father is not available for test but his genotype is deduced from tests of his parents are outlined for simple genetic systems and can be extended to any system.
