When added in low concentration to lymphoid G 2 phase cells, fucidin induces banding or uncoiling in the metaphase chromosomes. The bands are found to be G bands. The uncoiling is similar to the uncoiling observed after daunomycin or cycloheximide treatment of lymphoid G 2 phase cells. The possible mechanism behind this in vitro induction is discussed.
