Flavonoid patterns were studied by thin‐layer chromatography. The material belonged to the H. marinum and murinum complexes and to H. depressum, pusillum and bulbosum. The patterns of diploid H. bulbosum were similar to those of H. vulgare but more variable owing to allogamy. Flavonoid polymorphisms were observed in H. bulbosum (reminding of those occurring in H. vulgare ): as well as in the mainly autogamous species H. glaucum and H. pusillum.
