An unbalanced translocation between a chromosome in the 14th pair and a chromosome in the 22nd pair was discovered by a prenatal chromosome determination. The husband had the translocation in a balanced form. The wife had previously had one miscarriage, one still‐born child and a child which died after two months. The live‐born child had arthrogryposis. The possibility of the arthrogryposis being due to a chromosome aberration is discussed. The problems of prenatal genetic councelling are illustrated.
