
The seven‐chromosome karyotype of the African frog Arthroleptis , a probable derivative of the thirteen‐chromosome karyotype of Rana (Ranidae, Anura)

Males from five populations of the African frog Arthroleptis aff. poecilonotus were studied and in all specimens n = 7 was found. A theory is put forward that the karyotype of this frog has arisen from the n = 13 karyotype of the genus Rana.
