The chromosome number and appearance in the stemline and in sidelines of the rat‐kangaroo cell line PTK 1 are described at two levels of development, viz. at passages 90 and 104. The results are related to an earlier analysis at passage 66. An unorthodox mechanism for the origin of dicentrics, apparently without formation of acentric fragments, was found to be frequent during certain periods of development of the cell line. The pattern of late DNA replication was determined for the stemline karyotype.
