This case report offers further documentation that paraformaldehyde‐containing pastes are capable of causing long‐term anesthesia and dysesthesia of the inferior alveolar nerve when accidental overfilling of mandibular posterior teeth occurs during endodontic obturation. Nerve damage occurred even though the paste was used in conjunction with a solid core filling material (gutta‐percha). Possible mechanisms of nerve damage are discussed and treatment recommendations are made.
