A human gingival fibroblast cell line was cultured on bovine fibrillar collagen films and under transparent regenerated cellulose filters (cut off 70,000 M.W.) in multiple chambers of a circumfusion system. The cultures were in apposition with 0.5 mm‐thick wafers of demineralized human tooth. The fibroblasts grew up and around the wafers, and after one month the electron micrographs showed deposits of extracellular fibrils and matrix vesicles on the tooth matrix. In some areas near the tooth matrix clusters of apatite‐like crystals appeared in the extracellular fibrils after two months of cultivation.
