The effect of diphenylhydantoin sodium (DPH) on acid mucopolysaccharide (AMPS) and collagen contents of granuloma tissue was studied in tats. Granulomas were induced by implanting cotton pellets in the back of rats. DPH in doses of 50 and 150 mg‐kg was administered intraperitoneally from the first day after the implantation for 20 consecutive days. DPH at a dose t 150 mg/kg significantly increased the AMPS sontent on days 14 and 21 after the implantation. DPH at dose of 150 mg/kg also significantly increased the collagen contest on days, 3, 7, and 14 after the implantation.
