The 3 H‐17B‐estradiol binding capacity of gingiva was compared, by in vitro methods, to those of uterus and skeletal muscle of ovariectomized. New Zealand strain rabbits. The estrogen binding kinetics and partial characterization of the uterine macro‐molecular receptor substance are presented. Neither gingiva nor skeletal muscle bound significantly more 3H‐17B‐estradiol than the buffer blank. The gingiva of this species probably can not be considered an estrogen sensitive tissue.
