The biological effects of castration and estrogen replacement therapy were studied in the gingiva of adult female rabbits. Measurements were made to hislologically quantitate changes induced by estrogen on the gingiva when compared to the well established effects which occur in the reproductive tract of the female rabbit. Parentally administered esradiol benzoate resulted in significant changes within the uterus and vagina. No corresponding changes were detected in the gingiva.
