– The rate of normal incisor dentin formation was investigated in 10 adult and 30 young, male Sprague‐Dawley rats. A regular, not earlier described, variation was found and the results were in conformity with those found earlier in female rats. The rate of dentin apposition increases to reach a maximum after which it decreases. This variation is correlated to the age of the odontoblasts.
