. On the basis of 48 patients with leukoplakia on the floor of the mouth, the study has shown that (1) of the patients with leukoplakias in this location, two‐thirds are female, as opposed to a ratio of one‐third females for other locations, (2) the habit of cheroot smoking is often associated with the floor of the mouth leukoplakia. (3) 6 % of the 36 biopsies exhibited epithelial atypia, and (4) the floor of the mouth leukoplakias should not be considered epithelial nevi.
