Joint tissue from 7 patients with severe Factor VIII deficiency was examined for immune deposits. Tissue was obtained from fresh surgical specimens and offered information from patients treated by a variety of methods. No immune deposits were located, and in spite of others' suggestions that immune phenomena are occurring in the plasma of patients with hemophilia, no evidence for immune damage appeared in the joint tissues from these patients with hemophilic arthropathy.
