Factor VIII (AHF) antigen and activity have been determined in 243 patients with various diseases. A rise of both antigen and activity was found in all groups. The correlation between antigen and activity was not good in some of the diseases, however. The reason is discussed. Factor VIII protein was isolated from one patient with necrosis of the liver and its properties were compared to those of normal factor VIII protein.
