Failure to Trigger Intravascular Coagulation by Water‐Induced Haemolysis in Rabbits

Massive haemolysis induced by infusion of distilled water into rabbits did not produce signs of intravascular coagulation in healthy rabbits, nor did haemolysis accentuate thromboplastin induced DIC. Some possible mechanisms for these unexpected findings are briefly discussed.
