Soluble fibrin, obtained by incubation of purified fibrinogen or plasma with small amounts of thrombin, did not increase the erythrocyte sedimentation rate (ESR). This observation argues against a recently proposed hypothesis that soluble fibrinogen‐ fibrin complexes, adsorbed onto erythrocytes, influences ESR.
