Administration of 100 mg phenformin combined with 8 mg ethyloestrenol for 30 days to 9 healthy volunteers raised the fibrinolytic activity in the circulating blood, reduced the fibrinogen content and platelet adhesiveness. In addition, it increased the plasminogen content, decreased the α 2 ‐macroglobulin and increased the plasminogen activator content in the walls of the superficial veins. In the coagulation and fibrinolytic systems, then, the combined treatment produced changes tending to counteract the development of thrombosis.
