An abnormal weak lymphocyte PGM isozyme was found in 5 out of 13 patients with CLL. Nothing conclusive can be said about its origin, but it deserves further attention and also indicates that the PGM pattern should be studied in other types of leukaemia. Care must be taken in the PGM phenotyping of leucocytes from patients with CLL and maybe also in patients with other haematological disorders, as a PGM 3 1 individual may be misinterpreted as type PGM 3 2–1.
