In an extensive investigation of the coagulation and fibrinolytic systems in 12 healthy volunteers it was found that administration of 20 mg prednisolone per day for 11 days increased the AHF‐content and tended to induce a hypofibrinolytic condition. Histochemical analysis of biopsies of superficial veins revealed that the plasminogen activator content of the specimens was decreased and thereby showed for the first time that a drug can interact with the plasminogen activator content in the vessel walls.
