1 A thrombotic state, elicited by adenosine diphosphate, was induced in the rat by dietary saturated fats and cholesterol, and was intensified by propylthiouracil. 2 ADP‐induced platelet thrombosis occurred without evidence of prior vascular disease, and the diets alone did not induce thrombosis. 3 Unsaturated fat (linseed oil) in the amounts used, did not significantly affect the incidence of thrombosis. 4 The mortality to ADP was reduced in all female animals supplemented by linseed oil in the diet. 5 The LD 50 of ADP given intravenously to male rats was found to be 16.6 mg per 100 g body weight.
