A cluster sample designed to cover the total adult population in Norway was interviewed about adding fluorides to water supplies. Thirty‐four per cent favored fluoridation, 36 % opposed it, and 30 % did not know. When responses were related to background characteristics, only slight variations appeared. The finding indicated that at present there is not a sufficient attitudinal basis for introducing water fluoridation in Norway.
